Summer Tradition #2: Coronado Independence Day 15K

Summer is in full swing, and we are enjoying every ray of sunshine we can catch! I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend and that most of you got to enjoy a nice, long, 4-day weekend, either celebrating with friends and family or if you were flying solo this year, out running on a trail somewhere in the deep, cool forest.

We had the pleasure of having Brother #3 and LTG (although now that they are officially engaged, we'll have to think of a new name for her other than Long Time Girlfriend) down here for almost a week-long party with them and Brother #1, The Curly Blonde, and their 1-year old son, Nephew #3, who live near BAH and I here in San Diego. We definitely made it count and who knows when we will all be together like that again, so I am so very glad we all got the quality time together. We are all head-over-heels in love with LTG and are so happy she will be an official part of the family soon.

Brother #1 and I ran the Coronado Independence Day 15K bright and early Monday morning, and while Brother #1 did awesome, I had my slowest 15K time ever, even more slow than my first 15K while recuperating from a plane crash 10 years ago. More on that later...But let's just say that when I consulted my running partner (Baby H) on the issue, he reminded me that while he loved the constant attention and partied hard all week long despite the fact that he cut 3 teeth all at once, we really needed to get back on track with our training this week. I agreed.

My next Finish Line is an off-road half marathon in September. We've got some work to do and will be consulting with all of you running geniuses out there over the next month or so, especially you running mommas. In the mean time, I hope you are all making the most of the time you have either checking off or creating your own summer traditions.
